June 18, 1986
Heartbeat International, along with 99 other organizations nationwide, was recognized by President Ronald Reagan at the White House and awarded a Presidential Citation. This recognition was a part of a program that President Reagan established to stimulate Private Sector Solutions.

Telectronics, the pacemaker manufacturer whose initial donation of pacemakers helped found Heartbeat International, issued an official Recognition of Great Achievements to Heartbeat International.


March 1990
The government of Puebla, Mexico recognized Heartbeat International for its years of service to the impoverished citizens in need of pacemaker therapy in Puebla.

Heartbeat International’s unique and singular contributions were recognized on the IX World Congress of Cardiology in Washington, DC by the Heart Rhythm Society (then known as the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology - NASPE) when the Distinguished Service Award was presented for the accomplishments of Heartbeat International.

Heartbeat International founder, Henry D. McIntosh, MD, was honored by the American College of Cardiology with the Distinguished Fellowship Award for his humanitarian work through Heartbeat International.

Monterrey, Mexico presented Special Recognition to Heartbeat International.

The immediate past President of Panama awarded Heartbeat International the countries highest honor, The Presidential Award.

Vina del Mar, Chile, tendered a Grand Recognition for the life saving work of Heartbeat International in this area of Chile.

Honduras issued a certification of Special Recognition to Heartbeat International.

Henry D. McIntosh, MD was once again recognized by the American College of Cardiology with the distinction of being the first recipient of the International Service Award. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to medically developing or underserved countries, and who, through benevolent actions, have provided a specific service to enhance cardiovascular care and or education. The award recognized his work through Heartbeat International’s life saving pacemaker program.

The Governors of (Mexican states) Aguascalientes and Sahuayo officially recognized Heartbeat International for its life saving efforts in these two Mexican states
